1. Choose Your Device Model

Once you're on the page, the first thing you'll see is the option to select your device:

Click on the image of the model you own. This selection ensures that the instructions and setup process are tailored to your specific device.

2. Download Trezor Suite

After selecting your device, you’ll be prompted to download Trezor Suite, the official desktop application used to interact with your wallet.

Download the version that matches your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).
Install the application by following the on-screen instructions.
Once installed, launch Trezor Suite.

Note: Trezor Suite provides a secure environment to manage your crypto, update firmware, and use advanced features.

3. Connect Your Trezor Device

Use the USB cable that came with your device to connect your Trezor to your computer. Trezor Suite should automatically detect your device once it’s connected.

4. Install Firmware (If Required)

Brand-new Trezor devices come without firmware pre-installed for security reasons. You’ll be prompted to install the latest official firmware.

Click “Install Firmware” and wait for it to complete.
Do not disconnect the device during installation.

A device with pre-installed firmware may have been tampered with. If you suspect this, do not use the device.

5. Create a New Wallet

Once firmware installation is complete, you’ll see two options:

Create a new wallet
Recover a wallet using recovery seed

If you're setting up your Trezor for the first time, choose “Create New Wallet.”

6. Back Up Your Recovery Seed

Your Trezor will generate a 12- or 24-word recovery seed, which is your wallet’s only backup.

Write these words down on the paper backup sheet provided in the box.
Double-check that the words are written correctly and in the correct order.
Never take a photo, store it on your phone, or upload it to the cloud.

This seed allows you to restore access to your funds if the device is lost, stolen, or damaged. Anyone with this seed can access your wallet, so protect it carefully.

7. Set a PIN Code

You’ll now be asked to set a PIN code to protect your device.

Choose a secure, memorable PIN.
You’ll need this PIN every time you connect your Trezor to a computer.

Avoid simple or repeating number combinations. If someone tries to guess your PIN and fails multiple times, the device will temporarily lock them out.

8. Access Your Wallet in Trezor Suite

After your PIN is set and your wallet is created, you’ll be taken to the main dashboard of Trezor Suite. Here, you can:

View your account balances
Receive cryptocurrency
Send cryptocurrency
Check transaction history
Manage multiple accounts and coins
Explore advanced features like passphrase protection

9. Enable Optional Security Features (Recommended)

Trezor offers additional security options:

Passphrase protection: Adds an extra layer of security to your wallet (optional, advanced).
Hidden wallets: Combine your seed and passphrase to create separate, encrypted wallets.
Labeling: Add labels to your accounts and transactions for better organization.

These features can be configured inside the Trezor Suite under the settings section.

10. Keep Your Trezor Software Updated

Periodically, SatoshiLabs releases firmware and software updates to enhance security and performance.

Always update your Trezor Suite when prompted.
Check for firmware updates on the Trezor Suite dashboard.
